Connecting your AI key & choosing a provider/model

RelkoAI's AI runs on a bring-your-own-key model, so setup is getting a key from a provider and connecting it. It's short, and a couple of decisions along the way help you get good results without overpaying. This is entirely optional.

1. Get a key from a supported provider

RelkoAI supports providers such as Google and OpenAI. Create an account, add a billing method on the provider's side (this is what you pay for usage), generate an API key, and copy it carefully (you usually see it only once). Follow the provider's own instructions, as their screens change over time.

2. Connect the key in RelkoAI

Open your AI key settings and paste it in. Your key is stored encrypted, used only for the requests you trigger, and you can disconnect any time.

3. Choose a provider and model

Providers offer several models trading off capability, speed, and cost. Smaller, faster models are cheaper and usually more than good enough for RelkoAI's tasks. Start with a fast, economical model to keep per-use cost to a few cents; step up to a larger model only if you want more polished output for complex prompts.

Understanding the cost and switching

You pay your provider directly based on usage; RelkoAI's short tasks typically cost only a few cents each. There's no AI charge on your RelkoAI subscription. You can set a usage cap on the provider side, and you can switch models, switch providers, or disconnect whenever you like.
